Values and Rules
-
Membership was open to anyone who agreed to uphold certain rules: no alcohol, no drugs, no fighting, no reckless behavior (“squirreling”), and a commitment to racing safely under supervision.
-
There was a strong ethos—Robinson’s mantra was basically: “If you’re racing, you’re not killing.”
Our Legacy
-
The Brotherhood was founded in 1968 by William “Big Willie” Robinson III, a towering and charismatic figure in the Los Angeles street racing scene.
-
Robinson started the organization as a constructive outlet in neighborhoods traumatized by the Watts riots—a way to channel tension, reduce violence, and unite people of different races and backgrounds through controlled drag racing events.
